Symptoms
- The session is running but no hints are appearing
- The audio indicator in the overlay shows no activity
- loqra is not responding to questions being asked
Step 1: Check Microphone Permissions
loqra requires microphone access to function.
- Open your browser settings
- Go to Privacy & Security → Site permissions → Microphone
- Find
loqra.proand ensure it is set to Allow - Reload the page and restart your session
On macOS, also check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and ensure your browser has access.
Step 2: Check Your Selected Audio Input
- In the loqra dashboard, go to Settings → Audio
- Confirm the correct microphone is selected
- Speak into the microphone — the input level meter should show activity
If the meter shows no activity, your operating system may not be routing audio from the selected device.
Step 3: Test in a New Session
- End your current session
- Start a new test session
- Speak a test question out loud: "Tell me about a time you handled a conflict"
- The overlay should respond within 2–3 seconds
Step 4: Bluetooth Headsets
Bluetooth headsets can sometimes switch to a lower-quality audio profile (HFP/HSP) when a microphone is in use, which can reduce audio quality enough to affect speech recognition.
Fix: Use a wired headset for interviews, or connect your Bluetooth headset before opening loqra and check that the audio profile in your OS is set to A2DP.
Step 5: System Audio Capture
If you want loqra to also capture the interviewer's audio (in addition to your own microphone), you need to enable system audio capture:
- macOS — loqra uses a virtual audio driver. Install it from Settings → Audio → Install Audio Capture Driver
- Windows — enable "Stereo Mix" in your sound settings, or use the loqra audio capture driver
