What Is the Hint Overlay?
The hint overlay is a small panel that appears on your screen during a loqra session. It displays contextually relevant hints, frameworks, and prompts based on what the interviewer is currently asking.
It is only visible to you — it does not appear in screen shares unless you are sharing your entire desktop.
Overlay Modes
The overlay has two states:
- Collapsed — a small indicator in the corner of your screen showing loqra is active
- Expanded — a hint card showing the current suggestion
The overlay expands automatically when a question is detected and collapses after a configurable timeout (default: 30 seconds).
Keyboard Shortcuts
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Alt + H | Toggle overlay visibility |
Alt + N | Next hint (if multiple are available) |
Alt + C | Dismiss current hint |
Alt + Q | End session |
Positioning the Overlay
You can drag the overlay to any position on your screen. The position is saved per-session. For the best experience:
- Place it in a corner that is not in your natural eyeline during the interview
- If using two monitors, move it to the secondary monitor
What the Overlay Shows
Depending on the detected question type, the overlay shows:
- Coding questions — suggested approach, relevant patterns, complexity reminder
- System design questions — step-by-step framework card, relevant components
- Behavioral questions — STAR structure prompt, matching stories from your story bank
Customizing Hint Verbosity
In Settings → Overlay, you can set the hint detail level:
- Minimal — keywords and pattern names only
- Standard — structured prompt with brief explanations (default)
- Detailed — full framework with examples
